A new recipe card and another shoot

a couple of days late, YES, but here nonetheless... just in time for Valentine's day!  Here is the new recipe:

RED VELVET CUPCAKES

 

 

High res files for printing can be found HERE!!!  Lemme just say though, about this recipe... I hadn't ever had red velvet cake so I didn't know what to expect.  The first time I tried 1 recipe and didn't like the texture at ALL, tried it again and really didn't like the taste too much, especially the cream cheese frosting part in it, so I combined some stuff in my brain with the other recipes and this is what I got!  Joe loved the cupcakes, but I had more fun decorating them when they were done!  Although not edible, I used some small Prima flowers, red hearts confetti candies, and pink and red sprinkles... that was the fun part!  So give them a try, if you are a fan of red velvet, you should enjoy these :)

Last weekend, I also had the pleasure of doing a newborn shoot in L.A.  I think band new, teeny tiny babies are my FAVORITE types of sessions!  Kinda makes me want another one, but if I have enough newborn shoots to keep me busy, then it's kind of like borrowing and giving back so I don't have to change a poopy right?  My sister is scheduled to have her "peanut" (and yes that has been his official name since we found out she was preggers) and I doubt it will change even after birth, but I can't wait to really borrow her little one and as soon as the screaming comes or its time for me to sleep, I can hand him right on over back to momma and papa... nice being aunty all of the time, not nice and not so fun being mommy sometimes!

Anyways, back to my shoot.  It was SO much fun!  I love parents that don't have a bunch of restrictions and are easy going with what I want to do... makes the shoot SO much easier!  Here are a few of my favorites:

A makeover, a photoshoot, and an idea

Lots to share, so lets spare the fluffiness and get to it!  For those of you who have visited me here before, you will notice some changes :)  I have been wanting to redo my look here for awhile and since I have been hard at work on my personal website, I thought I would match them up a bit better so things look cohesive.  I am still having problems with my stupid links list thing on my sidebard... when you click the TV's/radio the link portion is jacked and won't take ya where I want you to.  I have tried that stupid help thing for Typepad, but apparently it's not idiot proof.  If anyone can help me out with that, I'd love ya forever and might have to throw something your way :)  *insert bribery wink*  Hopefully I can come up with some other things for the ole blog.

When I built up my courage to go forward with my photography business, I knew I would need pictures for my portfolio OTHER than my own kiddos lol.  Luckily I stumbled on some sessions via DST and Facebook and am well on my way to getting enough content for the site to launch in the next few weeks, even getting paid for some of the sessions which is a bonus haha.  Here is a session I had with some preteen girls a couple of weeks ago...  they ate the camera UP!

 

They were so easy to work with... they all LOVED the camera so it was a nice and easy shoot!  These were shot right behind my house in a huge empty field... I would LOVE to get some kid sessions back there with some cool props like a neato vintage chair or something :) 

Over this past weekend I was lucky enough to have a session with a first time mommy and daddy to be... Corina and her husband Dennis (yes, her and I have the same name lol).  I haven't edited many of their pictures, but these were some I got done last night that I really liked:

such a sweet shot.  I actually don't think she liked her expression very much, but I adore it... really shows "her" and "them"!  Thank you guys for picking me to share this day with you!  I had a blast and I hope you enjoy your pictures for many years!

Alright, last, but not least... I have been quite the domesticate the past few months and have been baking up a storm!  I have gathered and edited so many recipes and since I started an album for the goodies on Facebook, I have been asked by a lot of friends and family for the recipes.  I thought it would be neat to make recipe cards for each of them and share them with everyone :)  So every week, I'm hoping to update my blog with a new high res recipe card that you can download, print, and file away along with me! 

The first recipe is one I saw on Food TV a few weeks ago... key lime & coconut cupcakes with white chocolate frosting.... mmm!  I have tried this recipe twice now and changed it slightly each time.  I didn't feel like it had enough lime flavor so I increased both the zest and lime juice.  I also felt like it was overwhelmed a bit with coconut so I reduced that amount a touch. I still don't think it has enough lime flavor, but cutting down the coconut made it better the second time around :)
